eDrive – enabling an ultra-low floor in heavy goods vehicles
FR8 Technology is an engineering consultancy that is focussed on designing products for commercial vehicles that reduce environmental impact with superior performance efficiencies.
FR8 Technology has developed its ‘e-drive’ product, a new approach on an electrical drive axle for the Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) sector. This innovative solution drops the payload floor height of a van to just 300mm, therefore eliminating the tail lift. This enables easier loading, access, and increased volume
Project Highlights
- Our Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) has helped FR8 to develop IP strategy, a patent design and further define its target market sectors.
- FR8 utilised the Technology Validation phase of TDAP to produce a test module, enabling the organsiation to conduct initial design testing.
- Increased Technology Readiness Level from 2 to 4 during the programme.
