Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP)

Botanic Energy

Low energy transport refrigeration system utilising thermodynamics, rather than fossil fuels

Botanic Energy has developed a range of thermodynamic patented innovations using environmental heat, rather than burning fossil fuels, to create thermal energy.

Their disruptive solid-state technology system aims to revolutionise thermal control for the built environment and cold chain distribution of perishables such as food and pharmaceuticals.

Incorporating thermoelectric assemblies, the system takes advantage of temperature differences between internal and external environments, providing an energyefficient heat transfer system reducing fuel consumption and pollutants. The same system provides both refrigeration/cooling and heating for thermal regulation.

Project Highlights

  • Botanic Energy commenced trading in January 2021 and began our Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) in May 2022.
  • During the project, Botanic Energy further developed its solar-powered heat-transfer system, triple matrix prototype, and low-energy heat-transfer system.
  • TDAP has helped to develop the business and refocus its offering to a core B2B product.  This has enabled them to identify new markets and widen their offering to heating and cooling refrigeration.
  • Increased Technology Readiness Level from 3 to 6 during the programme.
