Positive news for low-carbon innovators as The Battery Show Europe returns to Stuttgart

  • The Advanced Propulsion Centre will head up the UK Pavilion at Europe’s largest trade fair for advanced battery technology
  • Excitement over return to a physical format is heightened by expansion of the UK Pavilion enabling more British innovation to be showcased
  • Developments in battery technology are vital to Boris Johnson’s new ten-point plan for a green industrial revolution

The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is showcasing the best of British low carbon innovation at The Battery Show Europe, which is set to take place 18-20 May 2021 at the Messe Stuttgart in Germany. Originally planned for October 2020, the event was rescheduled in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thorough and safety-centred planning by organisers will now enable delegates from across the world to attend, heralding a safe and welcome return to physical industry events.

As a result of increased interest this year, the APC has made the decision to expand its presence at the show from six to seven exhibitors on the UK Pavilion. Filling the coveted spots will be a selection of promising British SMEs, all of whom are emerging at the forefront of green automotive technology:

  • Autocraft Drivetrain Solution
  • Samuel Taylor Limited
  • TWI
  • Eatron Technologies
  • Hyperdrive
  • Brill Power
  • Faraday Institution

The Battery Show Europe is an international hub for the thriving advanced battery and automotive community, bringing together experts and innovators from every stage of the supply chain to build towards a low-carbon future. Advancements in battery technology are integral to ensuring the viability of electric vehicles on a mass scale, and therefore vital to the UK Government’s plans to achieve net-zero by 2050.

With Boris Johnson’s recently announced 10-point climate plan including a ban on new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, the APC’s role is increasingly crucial: ensuring the UK automotive industry remains competitive in the research, development and production of low-carbon propulsion technologies. APC’s International Events Programme offers a unique platform for SMEs to showcase their revolutionary technologies on the world stage.

The Battery Show Europe runs in conjunction with The Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, bringing together over 350 leading international suppliers in the birthplace of the car.

Philippa Oldham,  Stakeholder Engagement Director at the Advanced Propulsion Centre, said:

Our International Events Programme is designed to support emerging low carbon innovators, and the Battery Show Europe is a pivotal event for companies seeking to connect with industry peers, global investors, and prospective customers. That the physical show will be able to go ahead safely is a huge positive for APC and the community of British SMEs with whom we are working with to accomplish a cleaner and greener future.
