Technology developers encouraged to register interest for latest round of APC funding and business support
The fourth wave of our Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) is open. We are encouraging micro, small and medium-sized companies to register their interest in the programme.
Up to £100,000, plus invaluable business support, is available to companies developing emission-reducing technology, products and services which are relevant to the automotive industry.
TDAP is a phased process spanning 18-months that supports technology developers as they take their idea from concept towards a viable market proposition. TDAP supported projects benefit from funding and access to industry experts who help prioritise routes to market, protect intellectual property and validate the technology.

Our programme targets technology developers with early-stage low emissions innovations, either on or off-vehicle. The role of the APC, coming near the start of a company’s commercialisation journey, sees us support them through giving access to finance to help them develop their technology, understand their route to market, develop and protect their intellectual property and get them ‘investor ready’. We deliver the boost that gets them into great shape.
One such example is our backing for the driven group of individuals at Composite Braiding who are pioneering high volume, low-cost thermoplastic composite materials for the automotive sector.
Alastair Barnett, a senior engineer at Composite Braiding, said: “We have a unique take on composites, creating highly desirable new products through our innovative application of fibres and novel plastic mixes. Our main challenge though, has been around developing the capability to manufacture both at scale and at pace, ensuring we meet the demands of vehicle manufacturers.
Now, with the APC’s financial support, intellectual property strategy, techno-economic modelling and development of our production capabilities, we are already working to supply two manufacturers with our high performing materials.
