North West roadshow showcases automotive and CAM funding opportunities

28 November 2025

Come speak to us. That was the message given to companies across North West England at the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) and Zenzic funding roadshow.

There are grant funding opportunities to fit every size of business and, with the expanded scope (and extended budget) of the Government’s DRIVE35 and CAM Pathfinder programmes, more are eligible than ever.

These schemes aim to support projects in the zero-emission vehicle supply chain and technologies for connected and automated mobility (CAM). What is new is that now aspects like enhancing manufacturing competitiveness and software-defined vehicles are included within the accepted applications.

Facilitated by the APC and Zenzic, projects can benefit from the advice and guidance of expert teams, as well as the grant funding administered from the Department for Business and Trade.

More than 50 people attended the event, which was delivered in partnership with the Northern Automotive Alliance, at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC)’s Blackburn facility.

Paul Jones, CEO of the Northern Automotive Alliance (NAA) said,

“The DRIVE35 programme presents a great opportunity for automotive OEMs and supply chains in our region to bid for both capital and R&D funding to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles and at the same time enhance their competitiveness.  As NAA, we’re looking forward to supporting our members on this journey.”

Ian Constance, CEO of APC and Zenzic said,

“The message is clear, there’s a terrific opportunity for automotive and CAM suppliers up and down the country to benefit from these Government-back programmes. We are here to support you. We’ve seen successful projects secure investment and jobs in the UK, delivering innovative technology. The country is in the midst of a transition to net-zero and shift towards safer, smarter and more sustainable mobility, and we want you to be part of that journey.”
