Sarginsons: PIVOT, Performance Integrated Vehicle Optimisation Technology  

Revolutionising the global aluminium-casting industry with faster development of lighter and more sustainable cast solutions. 

Project PIVOT aims to remove the complexity and time constraints for lighter, stronger, and greener castings, by creating a global first one-stop-shop software that solves casting performance and manufacturing variables whilst allowing the adoption of fully recycled aluminium with up to 95% lower embedded CO2 

Key highlights   

  • Overhauling the design, weight, carbon emissions and production of cast aluminium components by leveraging advanced metal solidification, digital-twin simulations, and ground-breaking design with the adoption of recycled low-carbon alloys. 
  • Using 100% recycled aluminium to further the advantages of its use for lightweighting compared to steel. 
  • Reducing carbon emissions from extractive-mining, whilst significantly lowering embedded CO2 as part of mass adoption of low-carbon transport for net-zero targets.  
  • Total project value £5.8 million, £2.9 million funded by the Department for Business and Trade through the APC.
