Cheesecake Energy Ltd (CEL) SuperTanker

Cheesecake Energy Ltd’s SuperTanker energy storage system enables faster transition to electric fleets, making it cheaper and more convenient, whilst maintaining excellent environmental credentials.

Developing green batteries – Project highlights

  • Cheesecake Energy Ltd (CEL) is a spinout company from the University of Nottingham.
  • Founded in 2016 to develop an advanced thermal and compressed air technology for static energy storage, turning intermittent renewables into reliable power on demand to meet the needs of EV fleet charging and microgrids.
  • CEL 19s energy storage solution promises lower storage cost compared to Li-ion batteries, lower CAPEX and a longer service life.
  • Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) project will help CEL demonstrate a new and potentially more cost-effective way of storing energy as compressed air.
