YASA – STEALTH

Smart Torque Engagement for Advanced Low-NVH Traction & Handling

YASA is developing in-wheel motor and inverter technology to enable a step-change in EV architecture, addressing weight, efficiency and handling challenges for compelling high-performance sports EVs. This project will deploy YASA wheel motor technology on a Mercedes mule vehicle to showcase a new EV vehicle architecture delivering weight savings, efficiency and performance advancements without degrading the vehicle’s handling and ride.

Project highlights:

  • YASA’s high-performance in-wheel motors and high-frequency dual-inverter enable local control of the rear axle at high bandwidth, enhancing handling and dynamics.
  • Project STEALTH updates a Mercedes-AMG.EA mule with YASA’s wheel-motors and inverter architecture, control software and cooling, a demonstrator first with high-performance wheel-motors.
