Riverside Movement – ZELLOR: Zero Emission Lightweight Long Range
Demonstrating a zero-emission vehicle at half the weight of other 400-mile range ZEVs.
Sustainable personal transport poses a challenging trilemma; ‘Zero-emissions, Lightweight, Long Range – pick any two.’ Of these three, weight is the feature that is yet to be resolved in the market. Weight correlates with all the negative impacts of cars –resource consumption, embedded carbon in manufacturing, energy consumption in use, road accident statistics, air and water quality and ocean pollution. This project will demonstrate that it is possible to build a vehicle that achieves all three – zero emissions range with light weight.
Project highlights:
- This project will deliver lightness and range beyond the current state of the art, demonstrating a hydrogen fuel cell zero-emission vehicle that is under 1,000kg that can seat 4 people and has a range of over 400 miles.
- The project will use novel high-power density and highly efficient electric motors from GreenFlux Motors and highly innovative inverters with superior efficiency from TTPi. These will be integrated in a development of Riversimple’s hydrogen fuel cell powertrain using a vehicle development tool based on machine-learning, Pi-Hive, being developed by Pi Engineering Consultancy.
