Oriba – Advanced Recovery and Regeneration of Waste Graphite for Strategic UK Supply Chain
Pioneering advanced recovery of waste graphite, transforming battery scrap into high-value materials, driving UK sustainability and supply resilience.
This 12-month project, led by Orbia in collaboration with ICoNiChem and CPI, aims to transform waste graphite from end-of-life batteries and industrial scrap into ultra-high purity graphite suitable for electric vehicle (EV) batteries and other automotive applications. The initiative addresses a critical gap in the UK’s supply chain: the lack of domestic graphite recycling capacity, which currently results in landfilling valuable material and reliance on imports.
