Magnetic Systems Technology Ltd. – Development of an Optimised EV Driveline for 19t Truck Applications
The delivery of a next-generation driveline for high-efficiency, longer-range inter-urban operations, to accelerate the industrialisation of technologies developed in recent innovation programmes and deliver a product demonstrator with a tailored driveline and energy management system.
Delivered in partnership with Royal Mail and NHS Wales, this project has the potential to set the direction of future fleet electrification for the medium-duty truck market through increased cost efficiency and durability.
Magtec has developed the MEV190, a type-approved 19-tonne electric truck tailored for last-mile logistics and refrigerated deliveries.
Project highlights include:
- Multiple battery options; 180kWh, 240kWh, and 300kWh configurations
- Extended range: Plug-in Truck Grant certified range of 170 miles (270km)
- Ease of charging: CCS Mode 2 compatibility with a 3-hour charge time.
- Zero Emissions: Fully electric, with zero tailpipe-emissions
- Durability: Battery life of up to 10 years
- Validation and testing provided by NHS Wales and the Royal Mail
The vehicle is fitted with a Magtec battery electric drivetrain, tailored for this application. The MEV190 offers unparalleled performance, scalability, and safety, meeting the rigorous demands of fleet electrification.
