Demonstrate
Expert Tooling & Automation – Project ARTICO
Developing a new type of Automated Mobile Robot (AMR) that can operate both inside and outdoors and can carry loads of up to 20 tonnes in any bounded environment, from a factory to an airport or port.
The project will adapt the latest Siemens autonomous vehicle software, which will enable “free path planning”, in which the vehicle is given a destination, and it chooses its own route. The AMR will be unique in its combination of payload, the breadth of its operational design domain and its degree of autonomy.
Project highlights:
- Energy Storage: A new battery pack solution that features hot-swappable modules, to maximise battery life, reduce Mean Time to Repair by enabling replacement of single modules, and improve recyclability due to simpler removal of modules from packs.
- Lightweighting: The vehicle will integrate a number of lightweight solutions.
- Circular Economy: The vehicle will use processes to maximise the use of recycled material, and ARTICO’s chassis and battery enclosure will be designed for ease of disassembly, further improving circularity.
- Situational awareness: ARTICO vehicles will operate within a mesh network where each mobile device will signal its position. The ARTICO vehicles will be fully aware of the position and direction of other vehicles to maximise safety.
