A new vision for the battery packing process

The development and demonstration of this innovative, multi-platform automated battery charging process will improve the efficiency and the competitiveness of the NMNUK factory. Between the work of Nissan and Newcastle University, there will be an improvement of safety, quality and efficiency in a large fast-flowing production line.

Project Highlights 

  • Develops the automation of the battery charging  and inspection process on the production line for electrified powertrain vehicles. 
  •  Newcastle University will research the optimum charging cycle to protect the different battery types in a large and fast moving production line. 
  • Total project value £1.6 million, with £995k funded through the APC
