JLR – InCA (Inter Connected Cell Assembly)
Delivering a new battery cell design, capable of higher levels of efficiency improvements, targeted for next generation luxury vehicles.
The InCA project is developing an innovative cell design that combines flexibility for future technological advancements and th e delivery of superior performance.
This project, developed by a JLR-led consortium, is targeting key improvements to battery weight, part and cost reduction, as well as enhanced fast charging capability and power delivery through enhanced thermal management. The simplified manufacturing processes will also lead to greater reliability and quality.
Beyond performance, InCA strengthens the UK supply chain by building knowledge, capability, and market opportunities, while also supporting UK and EU cell manufacturers.
By increasing the use of recycled and sustainable materials in the construction of the cells and sub systems, the project is further supporting the UK’s wider net-zero ambitions.
