e-MOTIF: e-Motor Inverter Flywheel
This collaborative R&D project was designed to anchor high-tech, low-carbon automotive technology in the UK through development and manufacturing capabilities.
Led by Shield Engineering and supported by EMPEL Systems, PUNCH Flybrid and PFS Manufacturing, project e-Motif had a total project value of £11.2 million, with £5.6 million funded through the APC.
The e-Motif project focused on the development of modular, multi-voltage, scalable e-motor/inverter and flywheel energy storage technologies. Shield Engineering established a UK manufacturing facility, strengthening its position in the automotive sector and providing a viable production route for EMPEL’s products.
