Green recovery for automotive R&D through new Advanced Route to Market Demonstrator competition

Accelerating business innovation and boosting R&D investment will help make the UK the best place in the world to start and scale up business. With up to £10m available in grant for this match funded competition, the APC is looking for collaborative, business led R&D projects to demonstrate advanced propulsion technologies.
The new fast start competition is designed to encourage UK industry R&D recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, by focusing on green recovery and accelerating the transition to zero emission vehicles.
Each project must result in some form of a physical demonstrator. Applications must explain how technologies developed will accelerate the transition to zero, demonstrating how products or processes will be brought to market.
The competition also seeks to strengthen the UK’s capability in digital engineering through digital innovation. Projects are encouraged to show how they will accelerate the development cycles to maximise productivity through the adoption of advanced digital toolsets, such as digital twins and digital models.
Opening 6th July 2020, for projects starting no later than 1st October 2020 and completing by September 2021, the competition runs for five weeks and will award collaborative consortia between £500k to £1m which will be a max of 65% grant with 35% industry match.
