It’s Mind that matters
APC to drive mental health awareness by supporting Mind UK
We are delighted to announce that our chosen charity to support in 2019 is Mind UK.
Mind UK is an organisation determined to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues. They provide advice and support to those in need, hosting invaluable information on their website and offering live support through phone hotlines or webchats.
Mental health is a significant issue for a huge amount of people, with recent studies showing one in four of us will experience a mental health problem in our lifetime. At the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, we are dedicating 2019 to supporting Mind UK through fundraising and volunteering. We will also roll out an extensive health and well-being plan within our organisation, tackling key areas to support our own team’s mental health.
We are eagerly preparing for some of the tasks we’ll be undertaking this year to raise money and awareness for a great cause. We will be competing in the Birmingham Triathlon and other sports challenges, volunteering in our local communities by renovating community centres, participating in workshops delivered by Mind UK and much more.
Ian Constance, CEO – Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, explains:
“Mental health is something that can affect all of us – whether it’s an issue we face ourselves, or know someone who is dealing with it. My team and I selected Mind UK to be our charity for 2019 to allow us to support an amazing organisation, which is working to address these issues and provide support to those in need. We’re excited to push ourselves to the limit physically to fundraise, get our hands dirty with our local community and roll out a plan to support the team in aid of a great cause.”
Over the past two years, we have raised over £1000, donated vast amounts of food and been involved in community activities for Crisis UK, Woodland Trust and Trussell Trust. Follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to find out what we’re up to and how you can give your support. Join us in making 2019 a great year for mental health awareness.
