The UK commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing industry continues to grow back to its former strength again in July. In comparison to July 2014, there has been a 46.3% increase in production volume. This amounts to a total of 9,274 CVs being built last month. The output of the UK market is an impressive 137.6%.
These figures show the continuing trend of recovery by the UK commercial vehicle manufacturing sector. The total production level so far in 2015 has grown by a third compared to 2014 and is currently at 57,967 units produced. The commercial vehicle industry continues to surge with an increase of 32.4% in output. The continuation for this recovery is a result of the increasing demand both domestically and abroad for UK built commercial vehicles.
“The commercial vehicle manufacturing sector’s impressive performance in July is further welcome evidence of its ongoing return to form,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “After a difficult year of regulatory upheaval, we’re now seeing demand for British-built vans, trucks and buses bounce back as fleet renewal patterns return to normal and the online delivery market continues to grow.”
